Vacature.be jumps on Monster's phising debacle

I just received the above mail (click it to enlarge). After the recruiting site Monster was in the news today because internet criminals abusing their brand to phise for bank account number, Vacature.be seizes this questionable opportunity to promote their boutique.

Competition in the recruitment market is fierce, I know, but this goes too far if you ask me.

A small comforting fact for Monster.be ... their Google Adwords ad appeared next to the Vacature.be mail in my mailbox :)

I think this is a rather logical reaction. A lot of people can be confused when they hear about a 'vacature-site' that has been hacked.

On one hand I agree, but 2/3 of the mail explains all the new features they offer ...

Survival of the fittest. Also received the mail and the Monster Google ads also appeared next to it. Made me laugh.
I don't think Vacature is wrong in doing so. They clearly made a (commercial) statement and that's their good right.
But got to admit, from the moment i knew this was just another 'sales' newsletter, i stopped reading :-)

I had a pressbulletin made, but decided no to release it until asked for. It's too cheap to take advantage out of the misfortune of our competitors. Not that I'm that ethical - not at all... - but I'm sure our clients would see right trough it.

afdotSecond try to post a reaction:

First: On thursdaymorning, we received 100s of emails and telephone calls of our users thinking we had something to do with it. Not surprising - as Veerle pointed already out - as on every radio-station they were referred to as 'vacature-site'. Not reassuring our users, would have damaged our image.

Second: we had planned on that same day a "commercial' mail blast about our new arrivals for registered users. Nothing is wrong, I hope, with being a commercial company :-)

Combining both messages was a logical step, and avoided one extra email.

Talking about clients: I didn't loose or win one single contract because of this email. But it did stop the phone calls :-)
